About the speaker
Dr. Martin Bussmann is an experienced expert in plastics, sustainable materials, and value chains in the plastics industry. He studied mechanical engineering with a focus on plastics technology at the University of Essen and at ICAM in Lille. He then earned his doctorate in plastics processing from RWTH Aachen University.
He began his professional career in 2002 as a research assistant at the Institute for Plastics Processing (IKV) at RWTH Aachen University. There he headed the "Injection Molding Simulation" working group and was responsible for numerous industry- and publicly funded research projects.
After completing his doctorate, Dr. Bussmann held various management positions at BASF, including Global Segment Leader for compostable packaging. He then moved to Neste, where as Senior Brand Owner Manager he was responsible for global projects in the field of renewable polymers and chemicals.
Since July 2024, Dr. Bussmann has headed the Global Innovation Plastics division at Mosca. In this role, he is responsible for worldwide research and development of plastic-based consumer goods and drives the development of innovative and sustainable plastic solutions.

About the moderator
Peter Putsch is an entrepreneur and polymer/compounding expert with many years of industry experience. He has been with Putsch GmbH since 1981 and has been instrumental in establishing and scaling the company's own compounding and development activities. His focus is on biopolymers that are easy to use, process-stable, and economical for processors – with a clear orientation towards series production processes and market demands. Together with his sons, he manages Exipnos GmbH, which develops user-friendly biopolymers and transforms them into application-ready solutions. These include the BioCelain® biopolymer series, designed for industrial processing and robust component performance. Putsch initiates development programs, supports IP and product strategies, and drives the transfer from idea to commercial application. Since 2016, he has been Chairman of POLYKUM eV and has organized the international BIOPOLYMER Congress since 2018.
